Update on SIPS 2020 – COVID-19 here

Meetings of the Society for the Improvement of Psychological Science (SIPS) differ from most professional society meetings. At SIPS, there is very little sitting around listening to people talk about their research. Instead, most of the time is spent working collaboratively on projects aimed at improving psychological science. We actually get things done. SIPS meetings also include a number of hands-on workshops (e.g., learning R, Bayesian stats, meta-analytic techniques).

SIPS 2020 will be sited in the Victoria Conference Centre, which is attached to the Empress Hotel . The city of Victoria is the capital of the province of British Columbia. Victoria is on the tip of Vancouver Island, southwest of the mainland city of Vancouver and northwest of Seattle. Victoria has a population of about 370,000 and it attracts vast numbers of tourists every summer. For tourist information including video, see Tourism Victoria.

See the Travel and Hotels tab, along with the Social Events and Program tabs, for much more information. Go here if you are interested in arranging hotel room sharing.

RepliCATS Pre-SIPS Workshop Travel Funding

The repliCATS project will run a pre-SIPS workshop about evaluating published research claims and predicting the likely outcome of replication studies. 100 travel grants of US$550 are available to those who live outside the immediate area. This is a full (long) day workshop, running the day before SIPS: 20 June (8:15am-5:30pm), at the SIPS conference venue. Lunch, coffee etc are all included.

Read more about the repliCATS project here. Register your interest in the pre-SIPS workshop here. Contact Fallon Mody, fallon.mody@unimelb.edu.au, or Fiona Fidler, Fidlerfm@unimelb.edu.au with any questions (see also the FAQ on the repliCATS website).
